BT reaches One Million Wi-Fi Hotspots in Ireland and the UK

Bookmark and Share

BT can now celebrate about the million Wi-Fi spots that they have been able to create across the United Kingdom and Ireland. This is a remarkable achievement in the field of networking because no other network provider has been able to provide this huge number of Wi-Fi spots. BT has grown at an exponential rate in this region and has thus been able to create this biggest network in the country. However, this does come as a surprise since no one expected this high growth rate of BT’s network system in the country at such a pace. This success has come in about half a year’s time.

According to statistics, just six months ago, there were only 500,000 Wi-Fi networks of BT across the country. Thus, the figure of one million means that they have been able to double their network strength in the country. The correct figures of networks comprise of Openzone, business hubs, and home hubs having 3,000, 137,000 and 860,000 network spots respectively. The Openzone hubs mainly consist of coffee shops and hotels allowing users the comfort and facility of high-speed internet.

You might be interested to know where BT achieved its millionth network milestone. However, there has been no news about that information from BT. The news might wonder readers but the fact is that this has become a new angle for BT to make their achievement better known and make their network strength more famous. In a remarkable move, BT is organizing a competition to find out the millionth installation. The details about this wonderful competition will be available from 10th of February 2010 on Openzone Twitter. The address is http://twitter.com/btopenzone for those interested in the competition. This will surely increase the popularity level of BT further and will help the organization to continue its business in the same way that it has able to conduct in the last six months.
