T-Mobile Offers $100 off the G-Slate Tablet
T-Mobile, a recent acquisition of AT&T has made started running ads offering $100 savings on their G-Slate tablet for those purchasing prior to April 27th. Many people are probably wondering what the catch might be. The catch is that you must purchase prior to the aforementioned date and you must do it over the phone. Why they won’t accept in store purchases or internet purchases remains somewhat of a mystery, but the savings could be worth the wait to those wanting a decent tablet at a better than decent price.
The other catch seems to be that T-Mobile wanted to keep this offer secret, it was only supposed to be applied to specific people who received an offer. However, as the buzz runs the course of the blog-o-sphere, social media channels, and new sites, T-Mobile is likely to inundated with calls to get the discount.
Some worry that the acquisition of T-Mobile by AT&T will mean that contracts for the 3G tablet might be suspect or that mobile connectivity will become an issue. However, AT&T did not get to its position in the cellular market by being stupid and deliberately irritating and ostracizing customers. Like all other acquisitions, T-Mobile customers will retain their contract terms; at least until the contract period expires.
As far as the G-Slate goes, the deal comes only with a two-year service contract, so those who are willing to stay on hold to speak with a real live customer service agent should be able to ride out their contract for two full years before needing to worry about paying more for the service with AT&T. With the rate of technology growth as it is now, it is likely that users will want a newer model by that time anyway, so it is not a real area of concern.
