It Costs 37,000 pounds for a BT Broadband Connection in Cumbria

If you are living in Cumbria and decide to upgrade to a broadband internet connection then you will have to pay up a whooping amount of 37,000 pounds. This is exactly what Mr. and Mrs. Walker will have to do if they wish to equip their wonderful Bed and Breakfast with BT’s broadband connection. This is exactly what they have been informed from BT when they applied for the connection. The walkers were using a dial up connection for their Bed and breakfast. However, they thought that a broadband connection will not only provide more convenience for their customers but will also help their business to grow. When they took the next step of contacting BT for the connection, they were asked to pay up 37,000 pounds for their new connection.

This huge sum of money was for the speed of 0.5 Mbps. Now, BT justifies this huge amount by stating that they have reached their full capacity of broadband lines. To provide the Walkers with a new connection they will have to install a complete set of new instruments and connection channel. This will cost the organization 45,000 pounds. However, this may come, as a consolation to the Walkers that BT will pay 8,000 pounds of the 45,000 pounds of the total cost, which leaves the couple with he still enormous sum of 37,000 pounds.

This amount is still too much for anyone for a mere broadband connection. According to Mr. Walker, BT was exploiting its connection monopoly. To Mr. Walker, it seems that BT was charging them this huge amount, which will help BT to install equipments to provide broadband connections for the entire village.  It seems that the BT network monopoly is costing too much for the new customers of Cumbria and the organization must take the necessary steps to help them rather then sending them amounts that is not only exorbitant but also unrealistic.
