Microsoft teams up with CEOP to add Protective Toolbar on IE8
With all the negative publicity going towards Microsoft with its Internet Explorer 6 getting all the heat for the Google cyber attacks in China due to its serious security issues it was time that Microsoft pulled out something positive on its favor. Microsoft has never failed in such surprises and recently it has done exactly that by joining hands with Child exploitation and Online Exploitation Center. The two organizations have joined forces to come up with a product idea that might not only throw the positive limelight on Microsoft but may also help children in the process.
The product idea is a CEOP panel along with Internet Explorer 8 that will help the young minds to surf through the internet safely and securely with all the required instructions from CEOP. There will be a CEOP toolbar on the browser that will guide children about safe usage of the internet and will help them to report any anomaly, which they believe might have happened. This seems a wise move as proper guidance from the right authorities was necessary for the young generation so that they are able to understand both the positive and negative side of the cyberspace.
The toolbar will not only provide advice to the users about the internet content but will also educate the users about probable virus attacks and how they effect the user and other types of cyber crimes that might harm them. You will be able to download the toolbar-loaded version of IE8 from the CEOP’s website, which is www.ceop.police.uk./ie8 and if you are existing IE8 user then you will be able to download the toolbar itself and add it to your existing browser.
This comes as a wonderful and helpful step from CEOP to celebrate the oncoming ‘Safer Internet Day’, which will no doubt fulfill its meaning now that CEOP is there in your IE8 browser.
